Here it is the skull and cross bones from the corner of the memorial. Such fantastic detail in stone. TTFN BJ

Wall Memorials

These are memorials that are in the wall. At the bottom right hand corner, of the first memorial is a skull and cross bones. Cool!! I will do the close up of that tomorrow. TTFN BJ

Alter

This looks like an alter of some kind. It's fun because you aren't sure. TTFN BJ

Walls and Windows

Along with the arches that are carved on the wall, I find that the empty stone caskets are still there. I think their caskets, not sure really, but they sure look like caskets. TTFN BJ

Window on a Wet Spring

When I see the empty windows, I wonder what beautiful stained glass was that used to be in there. TTFN BJ

Wall Detail

The capstones on the top of the little pillers just below the mini-arches, they are all carved differently. TTFN BJ

Once Beautiful

When you see the beautiful stone work that remains you wonder how much more beautiful it abby was when it was is it's prime. TTFN BJ

A Side of Abby

The side shot of the abby while walking on the queen's lawn. I looks very gothic when the trees are bare. TTFN BJ

Abby and Castle

Attached to the castle is the Holyrood Abby. It is a ruin because Henry the 8th didn't like catholics. He did like their wealth and their lands. But thats OK because ruins are a great place to shoot pictures. The next pictures are of the Abby ruin. TTFN BJ

Lots of Rooms With Views

In the castle every room on the outside has a view. The ones on the inside also have a view but it's of the inner courtyard. TTFN BJ

All the Chimneys

They bring all the chimneys for one wall to one area of the roof. You can see gatherings of chimney pots on the roof. TTFN BJ

Queen's Back Yard

A very large lawn with a garden is the back yard and across the street is the queen's park. It has the largest hill in the area. A really nice park. TTFN BJ

Queen's Home

The queen's home is her castle, or at least one of them. TTFN BJ

Inner Courtyard

This is the inner courtyard of the Queen's Palace. When she comes to Scotland she lives on the third floor. (The tour don't go there) You can't take pictures of the inside of the house so this is as close as you get to the inside. TTFN BJ

Door Detail

The lamps have crowns and the unicorns look regal. Must be a royal door. TTFN BJ

Crowned Clock Tower

Being the Queens castle the clock tower has a crown on it. TTFN BJ

Fountain of Ornateness

Ornate stone carving is one of the things that I loved to see. It's everywhere. This is the courtyard fountain. TTFN BJ

Outer Wall

These are originals. No copies here, Tee Hee. This is the end of the outer wall. You can see the castle roof behind the wall. TTFN BJ

Part of the Royl Gate

To get into Holyrood castle you have to go through a gate. Really! This is the tower on one side of the gate. Cool Huh. TTFN BJ

Like the Chess Pieces

Just like the castle chess piece. I'm love'n it. TTFN BJ

Old House New House

I bet you can guess which is the old house, sitting in a bed of daffodils. I love the green lawn. TTFN BJ

White Tower

These are the houses just outside Holyrood Castle. Wouldn't it be fun to have a tower as part of your house. TTFN BJ

Fount of Age

It seems to me that the people in the United Kingdom like parks. They have lot's of parks. You can picture people in long dresses and top hats walking around this fountain. TTFN BJ

Scotts Monument

This monument is to Sir Walter Scott, you can barely see part of the statue on the inside. Fancy flying buttresses. TTFN BJ
