A Wall to Remember

A wall in the graveyard are large headstones side by side. Looming over the dead is the castle. TTFN BJ

Weight of Ages

These headstones are "old". The contrast with the real bright green of the grass is wonderful. TTFN BJ

Mossy Monolith

All the headstones that are old are covered with moss. Lots of rain in Scotland. Talk about a great place for a Gothic novel. TTFN BJ

A New One

The headstone is new and very beautiful. The wall behind is old. It's easy to tell because there is no moss on the headstone. TTFN BJ

Red Door

They paint their doors wonderful colors. TTFN BJ

Towering Over All

The fantastic church tower. I love the detailed stone work. TTFN BJ

Bong

The bell tower of St. Cuthbert's Church. Love the name and the tower. They also had birds in the tower you just can't see them. TTFN BJ

A Pinnacle of Stone Art Work

This gorgeous stone work is the roof of the memorial chapel. Fantastic. TTFN BJ

Royal Lampposts

These lampposts are at the gate into Holyrood Park. That is the park that is owned by the Queen, so the lampposts have little crowns on them. That is so cute. TTFN BJ

Narrow Arrow Slits

The above hole in the wall in a narrow arrow slit. The archer would get behind the wall, to keep from being stuck my someone else, and shoot his arrows down at the attackers. Their still there. Most of the slits were later converted to accommodate cannons. TTFN BJ

Skinny Passageway

Between a couple of walls is a skinny passageway, with a lamp. TTFN BJ

Little Walkways

Most of the area, to walk in, is wide but there are some real small twisty sidewalks. TTFN BJ

The Backside of a Big Bang

Many a cannon is pointing out. TTFN BJ

Windows Up In Arms

On the stained glass windows they have a vast number of coats of arms. The bench is so that you can contemplate the fact that you don't have one. TTFN BJ

I had about 5 min. of blue sky on this day. It goes well with the top of the castle. Ooooh, Aaaaah. TTFN BJ

Currant Flag on the Castle

I liked the way the castle framed to flag. TTFN BJ

The Great Hall

A really great "Great Hall". The decor is by armory, with a huge fireplace at the end of the room. TTFN BJ

Beauty in Glass

This is one of the stained glass windows in the original chapel. Fantastic. TTFN BJ

Tiny Chaple

The outside shot of the original chapel. This is a small but very beautiful chapel. Note the bright green grass, for a desert rat it is as if someone colored the grass with a bright crayon. TTFN BJ

Memorial Windows

One of the large halls in now a memorial to the soldiers that fought in different wars. There was no picture taking allowed on the inside. These are the windows and statue that are on the outside of the memorial chapel. TTFN BJ

Oh Shoot

These are the arrow slits that the defenders would shoot arrows through at the attackers below. TTFN BJ

They Aspire to Holyness

When you look out over the city you see vast amounts of spires from all the churches and cathedrals, and they make jokes about the churches in Utah. : ) TTFN BJ

Rampart View

A view from the castle wall of the city of Edinburgh. The city is kind of squished together. TTFN BJ

Cobble

A very beautiful cobblestone road within the castle. The road the powerful road on. TTFN BJ

Left Knight

Not to be left behind. ( bad pun I know ) The knight on the left. Ta DA. TTFN BJ

Right Knight

A knight on each side of the gate welcomes you. I think it also suggested that you act nicely while inside, or it could be introducing you to the security officers. Behave or whack. Just kidding. TTFN BJ

Royal Gate

Entering into the castle. What I find interesting is the very black portcullis just showing at the top of the gate.

Between Two Buildings

Looking through the old to something a little newer. Of course new there is kind of relative. TTFN BJ
